Savouring the Journey: On Trying, Writing, and Everything Delicious In Between

I have been doing this for a minute or two now, and today, I find my self reflecting some. This will probably never be perfect, but it’s honest, and it’s mine, and I am glad your on the journey with me.

I started this blog, this website, or this outlet, whatever we want to call it, for various reasons:

  • as a creative outlet
  • to pass the time when the days and nights were long and lonely
  • to truly stretch my soul
  • thinking one day, I could bundle retirement in with my love for food, drinks, travel and life and make some money at it, even if it is just a dollar a day

I think looking at this today, 3 out of the 4 reasons are still very applicable. The days and nights are not as long and lonely now that Will has been working shoreside for the last few years of his military career.  But the other reasons still apply, especially when we are staring retirement in the face and hope to loop in the travel piece to this project.   And honestly, if I never make the dollar a day at this, it’s ok.  My life as is, is rich and I know that I am a truly blessed and lucky gal.

I don’t actually know if I am any good at this. And don’t worry, friends, followers (well mostly friends cause I am still working on the followers thing), I am not looking for any validation from anyone.  I can admit, I am definitely not that great at the technical aspect of the website but I keep trying.  And I think that is the most important thing.  Cause trying to figure out the whole social media thing is a challenge in itself, that’s for sure.

I found myself struggling earlier in the year to keep up with the writing and the ideas, but I seem to have found a bit of a grove lately and am spending more time at this. Probably because I have a bit more time to myself with Will spending more time in the river in his waders lately.

But here is what I do know. I find the writing, when inspired, beyond therapeutic. I find it relaxing and really rather soothing.  So, I will keep at it.  One idea and one post at a time.   And with shorter days and longer nights upon us with the fall, I will push to continue to carve out time to work on this.

So thanks friends and followers for being by my side.
