Our First Stop in the Shipyards Beer Crawl

We are making the most of our time in North Van. The weather is warming and I want to believe that winter is in our review mirror after what has felt like a long and strange winter in BC.

We walked this weekend to get some food and try out a few of the local breweries within walking distance of our place.  There is a flurry of micro breweries and distilleries and it was a perfect night to explore just before dusk.  I had seen this place (which for some reason I assumed was a Greek establishment) and when I saw it posted recently on Instagram, was delighted to discover it was in fact Mexican inspired.  I suggested it to Will a few weeks back with some guys from work, but last night was the first time we were able to frequent it together.

La Cerveceria Astilleros (https://cerveceria-astilleros.com/is this local joint we stumbled upon, only a couple blocks from the condo.  This place is opened 7 days a week by the looks of it and located in the North Vancouver Shipyards. They have a tasting menu, happy hour, a small bites menu and a lovely selection of beer.  They even serve shots of tequila which of course made my heart go pitter patter.  Now I must fully admit that I am not much of a beer drinker anymore, but I tried their Chocolate Oatmeal Stout and man, was I ever pleasantly surprised.  We also shared the nachos, and again, was pleased with authenticity of the appetizer.  I have been told that the tinga de pollo tacos and classic burritos are also a must try.   With spring in the air, I am actually intrigued about trying out the their La Paloma Grapefruit Lager and Salted Lime Lager.

If you find yourself on the North Shore of Van this summer and needing to wet your whistle with something cold, you need to crawl to La Cerveceria Astilleros for some award winning, Mexican inspired beer and small bites located in the Shipyards Brewery District.
